๐ฅThree Acts Whose Rewards Are Beyond Measure
๐ Some deeds are so immense in their virtue that Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) has not specified their reward, leaving it openโwithout limitsโdue to their greatness. These acts are not only means of immense blessings but also reflect the highest levels of faith and character.
1๏ธโฃ Pardoning Others
Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) says in the Qurโan:
ููู ููู ุนูููุง ููุฃูุตูููุญู ููุฃูุฌูุฑููู ุนูููู ุงูููููู
โBut whoever pardons and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah.โ [Qurโan 42:40]
๐ขTo forgive when one has the right to retaliate is a sign of true strength. When we pardon others for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa taala , we entrust our reward to Him aloneโand what He gives in return is beyond human comprehension. The Prophet ๏ทบ, despite facing immense harm, forgave even his greatest enemies, teaching us that forgiveness elevates the soul and brings divine mercy.
2๏ธโฃ Patience (Sabr)
Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) promises:
ุฅููููู ูุง ูููููููู ุงูุตููุงุจูุฑูููู ุฃูุฌูุฑูููู ู ุจูุบูููุฑู ุญูุณูุงุจู
โIndeed, the patient will be given their reward without account.โ [Qurโan 39:10]
๐Patience in hardship, patience in obedience, and patience in refraining from sinโeach form of sabr carries immeasurable rewards. Trials in life are inevitable, but enduring them with faith brings a reward so vast that only Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) knows its true magnitude. It is a trait of the Prophets and the righteous, a means to elevation in this life and the next.
3๏ธโฃ Fasting (Sawm)
In a Hadith Qudsi, Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) declares:
๐ โEvery act of the son of Adam is for him, except fasting, which is exclusively for Me, and I will reward him for it.โ [Bukhari & Muslim]
๐ฐUnlike other deeds, fasting is an act of worship known only between the servant and his Lord. It cultivates sincerity, self-discipline, and a deep connection with Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) . Because of its purity, Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) has kept its reward hiddenโreserved for the Day when He will bestow His limitless generosity upon those who fasted for His sake.
๐ฅA Call to Attain the Greatest Rewards
๐ขIf we seek an unlimited reward from Allah (subhanahu wa ta'ala), let us embody these virtues:
๐ Forgive, even when we have the right to retaliate.
๐ Be patient, knowing that trials are temporary, but Allahโs reward is eternal.
๐ Fast, not only from food but from sins, distractions, and heedlessness.
Allah subhanahu wa taala grant us sincerity in our deeds and make us among those whose rewards are beyond measure during this month of Ramadan Ameen!

๐ขIn short, the believer is dominated by fear (of Allah) due to the strength of ฤซmฤn he has; he does not therefore feel falsely secure about being punished because of his sins.
๐ This is the way of the Muslim: he always fears and checks on himself, his good deeds are little to him and he fears even the small bad deeds he has done.โ

๐ Actions Specific to the Last Ten of Ramadan
๐ Haafidh Ibn Rajab al Hanbali,
๐ขLataa-if al Maโaarif feema li Mawaasim al โAam min al Wadhaa-if, 207
โโ The Messenger - ุตูู ุงููู ุนููู ูุณูู - used to specify the last ten days of Ramadan with specific actions that he wouldnโt practice during the rest of the month.
๐ Amongst them: Staying up at night, it is possible that what is meant is that he would stay up the whole night, in the Hadith of โAa-ishah:
๐ โThe Messenger used to combine between sleep and prayer during the first twenty days, when that last ten came in, he would role up his sleves and tighten his Izaar.โ [Narrated by Ahmad]
๐ It is also possible that what is meant is; he used to stay up the majority of the night, this opinion is supported by a Hadith collected by Muslim on the authority of โAa-ishah:
๐ โI do not know that he ever stayed up until the morning for even one night.โ
๐ Amongst them: The Messenger - ุตูู ุงููู ุนููู ูุณูู - used to wake his family for the prayer during the last ten days and not in other nights.
๐ Sufyaan at Thawree stated: Praying Tahajud in [the last part of] the night is beloved to me, and that a person strives in it, and wakens his family and children to pray if they are able.
๐ It has been authentically reported that the Messenger - ุตูู ุงููู ุนููู ูุณูู - used to knock on Faatimah and Aliโs door at night and say to them: โWill you not wake up and pray.โ [Collected by both Bukhari and Muslim.]
๐ He used to wake โAa-ishah up at night after he finishes praying Tahajud before he prays Witr. An encouragement has been narrated for the spouses, that each one wakes the other and lightly sprays water on their face.
๐ A narration in Muwata Malik states that โUmar ibn al Khataab used to pray at night what Allah willed him to pray, when the middle of the night approached, he would wake his family to pray and say to them: โThe prayer, the prayer.โ and recite this verse:
๐ And enjoin the prayers on your family, and be patient upon them [Taha: 132]
๐ Abu Muhammad, Habeeb al Faariseeโs wife used to say to him at night:
๐ โThe night is passing, ahead of us is a long journey and our provision is scarce, the caravans of the righteous have passed on ahead of us while we remain.โ
๐ O Sleeping one get up and lay down later,
๐ wake up my beloved, the time has come.
๐ Take from the night and its time,
๐ some remembrance while the sleeping one sleeps.
๐ Whoever sleeps until the night is gone,
๐ when would he reach his home or tire.
๐ Amongst them, is that the Prophet - ุตูู ุงููู ุนููู ูุณูู - used to tighten his Izaar. The scholars differed about its meaning; amongst them are those who said that it is an idiom indicating his eagerness and his efforts in worship, this explanation is not free of scrutiny.
๐ The correct understanding is that it means he used to refrain from [sexual relations with] women. This is how the Salaf and the Imams of the earlier generations explained it, amongst them is Sufyaan ath Thawree.
๐ He mentions in his Tafsir that he would not retire to his bed until Ramadan was over, and in the Hadith of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him: โHe used to forsake his bed and refrain from [sexual relations with] women.โ
๐ Some of the Salaf explained the saying of Allah:
๐ So now have sexual relations with them and seek what Allah has ordained for you. [Al Baqarah: 187]
๐ They explained that this is due to seeking Laylatul Qadr. The meaning is that when Allah permitted sexual relations with women in the nights of fasting until the dawn becomes clear,
๐ He also ordered the seeking of Laylatul Qadr, so that the Muslims are not busy during the nights of this month with permissible pleasures that would make them miss Laylatul Qadr.
๐ It is from this angle that the Messenger used to have relations with his family during the first twenty days, he would then refrain and free himself to seek Laylatul Qadr in the last ten.
๐ Amongst them; al โItikaaf.

๐ โThe Messenger of Allah used to practice โItikaaf for ten days every Ramadan, in the year that he passed away, he practiced โItikaaf for twenty.โ
๐ The Muโtakif imprisons himself to the obedience and remembrance of Allah, he cuts off all the issues that distract him, he turns to his Lord and all that draws close to Him with his heart, and nothing remains with him other than Allah and what pleases Him.
๐ The more the knowledge of Allah and love for Him is strengthened, the more a person is able to completely cut himself off from anything other than Allah the Eleveated.
